(mobilní) Yorkshire III.: Wetherby

Wetherby is the town I live in now. It is in West Yorkshire, between Leeds and York.

It is quite small and quite dead. Don´t get me wrong. It is a lovely town. But if you don´t fancy gardening there is not too much to do.
Some pictures will now tell more of the story (in phone quality again)

The biggest and also the most fun event of this year (ok my half year here) was the Wetherby Food Festival.

Two days filled with music, fun and great food. There were a lot of different food stands - English, Spanish, Caribean Fusion, Thai... All the good things.

And of course dessert. Loads of muffins, cupcakes, brownies, cookies... My favourites - churros and chocolate fountain! :)

What was the biggest suprise? Czech beer stand - line of people all day. That´s how good it is.

(mobilní) Yorkshire II.: Through Dales Way to Bolton Abbey

Today we are going to explore the ruins of Bolton Abbey in North Yorkshire.

 I took the bus from Skipton to Addingham and spent twenty minutes looking for the Dales way footpath. Dales Way Walk is about 76 miles long, but I chose just the three miles from Addingham to Bolton Priory. (and back) (no bus at that time)

For me this type of footpath is new because in Czech, we have independent paths, that usually don´t cross anyones property. The Dales Way crosses what it wants and solves it like this:

I am sorry but I am truly fascinated by this "just cross my fence and walk around my sheep,no big deal". Never saw this before. But it is really fun. One more.

Also talking about the sheep - they are everywhere.

I had a wonderfull weather (rainy and windy) but these little buggeres sure cheered me up. And then I finally got close to the Priory.

Bolton Priory was found by Augustinian canons in 1154. It includes a church, chapter house, cloister and prior´s lodging. The Priory gained its wealth from the sale of wool from their flocks of sheep.

After the dissolution of monasteries in 1539 they were allowed to continue as a parish church. All the other priory buildings were stripped of their lead roofs, leaving the stone work exposed to the elements. 

The parish church is still working and you can visit it. 

There is also information centre and restaurant. The are must be amazing for a family trip with a picnic. 

Time to walk back to Addingham alongside of the Wharfe River.

(mobilní) Yorkshire I.: Skipton

Hello :)

I am going to start my Tour de Yorkshire in Skipton, a small market town in North Yorkshire. The town is still one of the largest auctioning and stockraising centres in the north. I visited it for its 11th centrury castle.

The castle was rebuilt in the 14th century by Robert de Clifford. The Clifford family owned the castle until 1676. The last Clifford owner, Lady Anne Clifford planted the central yew tree, which is characteristic for Skipton Castle.

At the entrance you will receive a plan with descriptions of the rooms and you can explore the castle on your own. There are also descriptions with additional information in all the rooms.

A part of the castle is today used as a private residence.

Next to the castle is also a 12th century chapel.

The admission was about 6 pounds (with student discount). To go through the castle took me about 40 minutes. Skipton Castle is sure worth a visit when you are in the area.

Červnové radosti

Ahoj! :)

Červen nám v Anglii v podstatě propršel, takže jsem měla spoustu času na indoorové aktivity. Taky jsem na týden zavítala na dovolenou domů, takže jsem k tomu přidala i nějaké přežírací aktivity :))

Přečteno

Za červen jsem zhltala celou Hunger Games sérii. Překvapilo mě, že se filmy zase od předlohy tolik neodklánějí (ale já všechno srovnávám s Harry Poterrem, kde natočili v podstatě jinej příběh). Každopádně je to čtivé :)

Rozečtenou mám Divergenci (z filmu si pamatuji pouze Shailene Woodley - ty oči! ty vlasy! - slint) a prokousávám se Pánem much.

Hunger Games 1-3: za mě 4/5

Shlédnuto

Kromě už zmíněné Divergence jsem konečně viděla Dallas Buyers Club a trochu netypickou romantickou komedii Something Borrowed (Tvůj snoubenec, můj milenec) (někdy opravdu nechápu, kam na ty české překlady chodí).
Dallas Buyes Club byl opravdu výborný, všechny ceny jsou zasloužené. Celé jsem to sežrala i s navijákem. Divergence je taková příjemná oddychovka se spoustou pěkných lidí, stejně jako Something Borrowed. Netypická romantika, kde je v podstatě "zromantizovaná" nevěra. Ale jo, proč ne. Jo a taky jsem byla donucena shlédnout Star Trek. Nebo teda aspoň u něj spát.

Divergent: 3/5 plus jedna menší hvězdička za Shailene
Dallas Buyers Club: 5/5
Something Borrowed: 3/5

Radostnou událostí je zahájení letní seriálové sezóny. Jupííí :) Dočkala jsem se konečně nových dílů Suits, Fosters a Gracelandu :) z nových seriálů mě zatím zaujal Chasing Life, o čtyřiadvacetileté reportérce, které diagnostikují rakovinu.

Snědeno

Musím začít dokonalými sušenkami z Marks and Spencer (a ze slevy!). Byly s třešněmi, pistáciemi a bílou čokoládou. Mňam!

Nadále se také rozvíjí moje úchylka na přeovocované ovesné kaše. Samozřejmě vždy s několika kostičkami (spoustou) čokolády. Vypadá to pak nějak takhle:

Kaše na prvním obrázku je navíc ozdobená ovocem ze zahrádky a pod ní je pohřbeno burákové máslíčko. Ať žije dovolená! :)

Výprodejový cheesecake z Morrisons. Muffinovo-čokoládový! Já se to snad naučím vyrábět.

A trocha toho domácího přežírání. Miluju grilování. Grilování stejně jako čokoláda dělá všechno lepším :)) Maso i zelenina naložené v oleji a bylinkách. Tzatziki made by moje maminka. Lepší než v Řecku :)
